Download YouTube playlists video by video

YouTube playlists are great for organizing content — workout mixes, study sessions, podcast episodes, tutorial series — but YouTube doesn't let you keep them offline unless you pay for YouTube Premium. Even then, Premium downloads are locked inside the YouTube app and disappear if your subscription lapses.

SnapVid lets you download every video in a playlist to your device as MP3 or MP4 files you own outright. There's no batch button yet — you paste each video URL individually — but the process is fast once you have a routine. Most users get through a 20-song playlist in under 10 minutes.

Once downloaded, the files are yours. Drop them in a folder, name the folder after the playlist, and import into any music app. Spotify-like browsing without the subscription. Build music libraries for road trips, gym workouts, study sessions, or DJ sets.

Workflow tips

  • Open the playlist in YouTube in a separate tab. Keep it open while you work in SnapVid.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts. Cmd/Ctrl+L selects the address bar, Cmd/Ctrl+C copies, Cmd/Ctrl+V pastes. Cuts time per video to about 5 seconds.
  • Pick the same format every time. Decide upfront: MP3 320, or MP4 720p, whatever. Don't second-guess on each video.
  • Save downloads to a dedicated folder. Your Downloads folder will get cluttered fast.
  • Rename files as you go (optional). SnapVid uses the YouTube title — usually clean enough, but some have prefixes you may want to strip.

Common playlist download use cases

  • Workout music: Build a hype playlist on YouTube, download as 192 kbps MP3, sync to your watch / phone.
  • Study / focus mixes: Long lo-fi or ambient mixes for offline study without burning data.
  • Podcast archives: Save full podcast back-catalogs as MP3 for road trips.
  • Educational courses: Download entire course playlists as MP4 to study on flights or trains.
  • Music for events: Wedding, party, or event playlists — downloaded so you don't depend on venue Wi-Fi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download an entire YouTube playlist at once? +

Currently SnapVid processes one video at a time. We're working on batch playlist support. For now, paste each video URL individually — it's still faster than most desktop tools once you get into a rhythm.

How do I get individual video URLs from a playlist? +

Open the playlist, click any video, then copy the URL from the address bar. The URL contains both the video ID (after watch?v=) and the playlist ID (after &list=). SnapVid uses the video ID only.

Will downloading hundreds of playlist videos get me rate-limited? +

Possibly. YouTube watches for unusual traffic. SnapVid uses caching to spread load, but if you blast 100 downloads in 5 minutes you may see slowdowns. Space them out by a few seconds each.

Can I download a private or unlisted playlist? +

Only if you can access the playlist while logged out (or via the unlisted link). Truly private playlists require account access, which SnapVid doesn't have.

Will a playlist URL work in the converter? +

Yes, but it'll only return the first video of the playlist (the one with watch?v=XXX). To download every video, you need to extract each video URL and paste them one at a time.

What's the best way to organize playlist downloads? +

Create a folder named after the playlist (e.g., 'Workout Mix 2026'). Download videos one by one and move each MP3 / MP4 into that folder. Most music players index folders as albums automatically.
